Hot lights made Hutch glow with sweat as they sound-checked the mics again. Control Room B was small, but cozy, as the long evening wore on. I looked at him, nervous, goofy, happy. Cutting an album. I'm sure he never thought it would happen. When it all comes together, a bust, a play, his singing, it doesn't matter, he gives me this look that's mine alone. I know his eyes, his body. The blow hits. I love this guy. I'm crashing down something I just never knew before. The fall is so sweetly terrifying, but I look forward to landing.
